DJ Suhel of Bollywood Remix Events talks about his upcoming new year party
There isn't one main attraction for our party, taking place this year at The Chelsea Brewing Club, at Chelsea Piers - there are SEVERAL!! First and foremost, we have the LONGEST OPEN BAR out of any New Years Eve Party in New York City - with a Full 6 Hours, from 9PM-3AM. We have 9 Bartenders across 3 bars in our venue, with 6 bartenders at the main 30 foot long bar alone - so people will get their drinks faster, than at any other party. We have an amazing assortment of 12 different heavy hors d'oeuvres and appetizers from world class chefs at our party all in a beautiful, waterfront venue, and we are the only New Years Eve Party in New York City offering all this with a picture perfect view.
What kind of crowd do you generally expect?
People that want to party! My name has been synonymous with people that are looking for quality at New Year's Eve Events for 14 years and counting, and the fact that we are known for that quality is what makes people come back to us year after year. Expect a fun loving crowd aged 25-35 years of age.
What do you find the main focus of a party should be?
Food/Venue/Music/Drinks and why? I don't think there is one main focus of a party. The most important things that go into an amazing night are the Food & Drink, the Venue, and the Music and we have that at a level that can't be matched. I am, and have always believed, that you must always give people more than what they are paying for. There is no other party anywhere in New York City that is giving you a 6 Hour Open Bar for $85 with an amazing assortment of food in a waterfront setting. 6 Drinks alone at a nightclub these days will run you at least that much, and we're giving you so much more on top of it! I named my party Chammak Challo to honor the Biggest Bollywood Song of the year!!
Have you dj’d New Years Eve parties before? What has been the most elaborate?
I have been deejaying New Years Eve parties since 1997. Every year manages to outdo the year before. This year is going to be extra special and crazy for me, as I will be hosting the New Year's Night, and then deejaying, and then as soon as I'm done with my DJ set, I have a limo waiting for me to take me to the airport as I have 3 back to back to back Wedding DJ Events in Hong Kong that I need to make it to! My internal clock is going to be so messed up, but my adrenaline and love for what I do keeps me going!
What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen happen at a NYE’s party?
The craziest thing I have ever seen happen at a New Year's Eve party is people willing to pay anything for a ticket, after the party has been sold out. I always advertise my events early and give people enough time to purchase advanced tickets. Our reputation is such, for always having the best parties, and giving people more than what they pay for, that word spreads quickly, and tickets sell out quickly. I limit my capacity, always, to be at least 25-30% less than what the venue can actually hold, so that everybody can have a comfortable and good time. Part of being a good host and party organizer is to make sure that everybody enjoys themselves. Reputation is the blood and lifeline of my businesses.
